Breast Cancer

I am walking the Breast Cancer 3Day in November, well atleast I hope I am. See, each person needs to raise $2,200 to be able to walk and I am just $800 short of that with only 7 weeks to go. I thought that you'd like to know what motivates me to participate in The Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. I am walking because I can. I am walking for those men and women who cannot. I am walking for those dear to me--friends, family, and classmates--those who have lost their courageous battle with cancer. This is my motivation for joining this great cause and for walking so far. I am walking in hope that together we will find a cure; and for those individuals who, despite enduring the agony of breast cancer, demonstrate an awesome spirit and faith in the belief that one day we will end breast cancer forever. Here is a poem written by a fellow walker. Have your tissues ready!

10:22

He didn’t want to tell her good-bye
But even he knew the sky beckoned her to fly
Deep in his heart he tried to be strong
And at 10:21 he knew it wouldn’t be long
He looked at his mom asleep on the bed
He looked at the pillow that cradled her head
He looked real hard so he would always know
And at 10:22 he let her go
He looked at his boys at 10:21
He can barely remember being that young
They began to pray; it was all they could do
And their prayers were answered at 10:22
She’s known her forever and probably a day
She beat the same demon that causes her pain
She’ll miss her so much; it’s breaking her heart
And at 10:22 she was falling apart
I woke up exactly at 10:22
My head still pounding as I battled the flu
I stared at the clock until 10:23
And then I found my way back to sleep
They were holding their breath since before Christmas Day
They wondered if God would send a miracle their way
The clock kept on ticking; the moments were few
And they finally exhaled at 10:22
At 10:22 she found her wings
She rose from the bed and she started to sing
The sky was blue as far as she could see
And at 10:23 she was finally free

I'm Sick AND Tired of....

being sick and tired! Seriously, the past 3 days I've either been in bed or on the couch. I'm thinking at this point it must be a sinus infection. I am going to the doctor today after much insistance from the hubby. We leave for Mexico next weekend and he doesn't want me to be sick when we go...or atleast doesn't want to hear me complain...and cough..and sneeze....and sniffle. lol! Last night I literally felt like my face was going to explode, so I guess it is time for the dreaded doctor visit and antibiotics....ugh!

"Not me!" Monday

I follow MckMama's blog on a daily basis. Ok Ok, so I am what one might call a stalker...lol! She has started a "Not ME" Monday and hers are hilarious as are alot of others. When you get a chance, head over to her blog to not only do this fun carnival, but read up on her and Baby Stellan (aka: "mckmuffin"). Ok, here goes:
  • i DID NOT stay in bed almost all day yesterday...nope i didn't!
  • i DID NOT then stay up until 2 am working on a blog makeover...really, i didn't!
  • I DID NOT get irratated with my daughter when she informed me that she didn't want hot lunch today, so I would need to pack her a lunch which would make me get up from the computer that I was NOT on!
  • i DID NOT rush my kids out the door for school this morning, almost being late because I was reading all the "I did not's"
  • And I more certianly HAVE NOT stayed in my pj's all morning reading through them all and not doing a dang thing around this house...because, seriously my house is spotless....NOT!

What have you NOT done this week?

In Memory Of

A day to remember, a day we will never forget, a day of tears and prayers.
It seems hard to believe it has been seven years since the world we live in changed forever.
Be safe. God bless America!

Go Sabertooths!!!

Today was Colten's first official football game of the season. They had a scrimmage game last week that they won 28-0!! Very exciting! But today kicked off the official season. Far West Sabertooths vs. Huskers.

This past week, Colten has really improved and has impressed all the coaches. They put him on the gold team which are the starters! We are so proud!!! He really has come along way and that is such a big thing to be a starter with this being just his first year in tackle. :~)

Waiting anxiously to get back in the game. Boy, does he LOVE football!!!

It was a GREAT game.....alot of excitement. Unfortunately they ended up losing by one touchdown in the last second of the game. Final score (18-12). The boys all played their hearts out!

Camping Curse!!!

Seriously!!! We have the "Camping Curse". We can never go camping without it raining, but never would have predicted this.....

Thats right folks. The clouds opened up and dumped golfballs on us. It was unbelievable. We got a bit of damage to the trailer and some dents on the truck. Seriously???

Well, after that bit of drama, the next day was actually a pretty nice day. The kids got some riding in and we went on a hike.

We even managed to get a few games of horseshoes in. The kids had fun for "awhile" with this, but then gave up since it started to hurt their shoulders...lol!

We topped off the day with some good old fashioned smore making!!! Always a favorite of the kiddos!!

Even with all the craziness, it was actually a really fun trip!! It's always good spending time with the family. We always do a yearly camping trip with the whole family later in September, but with football going on, we needed to make it earlier. Until next year........
